Main project content:

The Huwei River Bridge was constructed in November 1993 with a length of 350 meters and a width of 26 meters. It is made of pre-stressed concrete with a span of 11 and I-shaped beams. However, the bridge's insufficient free board height raised concerns for river safety, prompting the decision to commence its renovation.

The project involves the renovation and attached pipeline construction of the bridge spanning across Huwei River on Taiwan Provincial Highway No. 1, from station 238K+710 to 239K+490. The construction is partially completed and includes two independent bridges in each direction, with a combined width of 29.4 meters and a width of 14.2 meters for one direction. The bridge features a pre-stressed concrete box girder design with a continuously variable cross-section, divided into 5 spans for both northbound and southbound directions. The northbound bridge is 354 meters long, while the southbound bridge spans 332 meters. The deep groove area spans 3 spans and is constructed using the "balanced cantilever method", while the side spans and the field brace segments adopt the "support construction method", all of which are cast in place. The renovation is aimed at improving the bridge's seismic resistance, ensuring the safety of road users, and promoting local economic prosperity.
